Are Maxxis bighorn 31x10.5r15 crappy chinease tires or are they nice. And how long does the tread last.

I've never been a fan of Maxxis. They make some decent atv tires, but imo their truck tires don't stack up.

low end but will suffice. Ran them on a 3/4 ton diesel that saw 80% off road and they lasted maybe 25k.

I ran a set of 33x12.50r15 Maxxis Bighorns as my first setup on my XJ before going 35" MTZ's and I will tell you this, those maxxis tires SUCK. Not worth the money at all. My MTZ's are a night and day difference in performance. They were all around much better but I really saw a huge difference when driving in snow. The Big Horns were horrible in snow. The MTZ's perform much much better and I find myself not needing 4wd as much either. Tires make a big difference in how your rig performs, don't cheap out.

I'm a fan of the goodyear duratrac or mt/r, mickey mtz, cooper stt pro, or dick cepek extreme country.

I've come to find that tires with that traditional mud tire tread pattern, like on the bighorns, don't really do any one thing that great except look cool.

I was open/open here and had one helluva time getting through... I think my MTZ's would have made it much easier knowing how much better they are.

I've been very happy with the Cepeks, they're hard to beat for the money. I'm about to sell these replace these 33's with 35's and I'll be sticking with the same tire.

When I was tire shopping, I kept reading and hearing from people that the Dick Cepek's are really loud so that dissuaded me from considering them. But, some people like loud tires.

They aren't much louder than any other mt tire. Delivered a truck we worked on to a customer after we installed some parts and new dick Cepeks and I didn't notice anything. Then again that was for only about 10 miles. Never heard much noise complaints but everyone is different. Nothing can compare to the nittos those things are insanely loud!
