Leaf springs

Those are very common wheel dimensions for XJs. The wheel will fit as long as it's 5x4.5 bolt pattern, but the tire size will be the determining factor. If the tires you put on uptravel enough to hit your fenders/flares, you should add/extend your bumpstops to prevent that.

 

Sway bar links, control arms, maybe a drop pitman arm

Thanks, yeah sway bar links (or quick disconnects). Control arms would be ideal, but they certainly aren't necessary at 3". Aftermarket LCAs of a tube design would be much better than the stock one's, though. It'll give your tires more space before they rub, and the tube won't hurt them like the stock LCA's lip does.

 

I would probably do 31x10.5 on an 8" wide wheel. Exact tire size has a lot to do with preference, but I ran 30x9.5s for a while on my stock Comanche. 31s should be fine on a 2" lift.

 

i just bought a 3.5" suspention lift. and i want to put it on myself. i have a hobby shop with pretty much every tool you need for anything. if me and my buddy did it do you think we could do it in a day? and im sure theres other people that would be there to help that have done it before.

 

I tried to do the same thing cause I had to finish mine before I could drive home on leave. Plan for at least two days. If it's your only mode of transportation, plan for at least three days. The less time you allot, the more problems you'll run into. If you give yourself more time, worst case scenario is that you get it done early. Ended up taking me a day and a half with about 6 people working on it, partly because the auto skills shop sucked ***, and partly cause of all the little things that were going wrong.

 

31s would be nice but will.i retain my flex? Ill be using lift shackles and a spacer, and i wanna run a bigger tire but keep flex

 

You could run 30s. Like I said, it's preference. I said 31x10.5 because it will hold a bead under more stress than a 9.5" wide tire when aired down on an 8" wide wheel.

Well my dad's friend did a few hundred hours of work on it for free to get it running, so I'm gonna make him take my money. Needs a new windshield cause there's a crack all the way across it. Needs a new exhaust setup, and maybe a transmission. The Camaro list is stuff that I actually have to do to it to keep it on the road.

The Manche is leaking everything. Not a big deal, but two days ago I started dumping gas while filling, and my wipers stopped working. I also have a D44 that 96xjclassic is helping me rebuild, and I need to patch the rust and get the rest of it bedlined. I do have a budget boost to install, but I've been lazy.
