They will fit, and in my opinion, they will look great. There may be minor rubbing when you turn your steering wheel to full lock, but you can fix that by adjusting your steering stops (free and easy) or getting aftermarket lower control arms.

Default New to Me XJ

Hi All,

Just picked up a 2000 XJ Sport with only 41k on the clock. I'm looking for about 2" of lift and increased weight capacity.

This is going to be my "do it all" spare vehicle (got rid of my truck ) as well as my toy. In the end I plan on 31" all terrains and stock axles locked with 4.10's.

It seems that at 2" the general consensus is that no real rework is required for the resulting driveline angles and brake lines.

Does anyone have any suggestions for HD leaf packs that will give me 2" over stock? Or would I be better served with a stock height HD leaf pack and a 2" shackle lift?

I would also like some suggestions for HD coils for the front. Is there a good HD coil that would give me 2" of lift or should I look for a stock height HD coil with a 2" spacer?

Thanks in advance, this forum is a wealth of great info.

Quadratec sells HD leaf packs that will give you about 2" of lift. OME also sells 1.5" HD leafs. As for the front you can just use a 2" spacer. Your stock shocks might be a little maxed out so you may want to look into a decent set of shocks as well

That's good advice. Plus, since you're looking at carrying weight you wouldn't really need HD springs in the front, though it would be nice. As for tires, 30's would fit better. I ran a 2" lift on 30's for a few years and they were a great match. Plus if you're fully loaded and the springs are compressed, the smaller tires will give you a little extra room.

Thanks for the advice both above.

That is a good point about sagging a little under load while trying to stuff those 31's with a 2" lift. Once I make up my mind on some bumpers I will probably trim to get 31's comfortably under there. Although I will take a look at 30's, not much difference I guess...

I will probably run the spacer up front until I get a heavy duty bumper & winch up front and upgrade to HD coils.

Also I know this is not suspension related, but can these computers be live tuned on a dyno?

I have lots of tuner buddies who can get me in for somewhat short money.

Please chime in anyone else with setup & company suggestions!

I have some 2" spacers i'd like to put on the rear of my jeep and I can't seem to find the right replacement u-bolts at any of the local auto stores. I might be measuring them wrong so if anyone knows what size I can replace the stock ones with I would greatly appreciate it. If i do this I should be fine without changing any of the other suspension or anything correct? Thanks for any help. it is a 99 jeep cherokee, everything is stock.

For the rear I advise HD packs with an overload spring - that way you'll get the lift and ride good on the street, but when you load it up, it won't sag bad enough to rub the tires.

As far as tuning, forget about it, the PCMs in these trucks are locked and cannot be electronically tuned. The stock tuning is more than sufficient for the power the engine can produce in stock configuration. Same goes for "chips"

I strongly advise you against using blocks - they ride terrible, can damage the springs, and are dangerous on these trucks due to the lack of traction bars or rear links.

If you want to lift the rear a few inches, look into longer shackles or new springs - both will yield much better results

Thanks - any particular HD pack you could suggest?

Also do you think the Neon injectors in your build thread were worth the trouble for the MPG gain? I'm hoping to pick up 1 or 2 from an intake & exhaust.

Awesome build by the way.

OME has great HD packs for a daily driver / work vehicle - Call Dirk at DPGOffroad - he's a Guru with those springs and he'll hook you yo with what you need.

And the neon injectors improve throttle response a bit, not MPGs. Any MPG gain comes from using freshly cleaned injectors - i'd say they're worth it just for that. My stock ones were disgusting when i took them out.

Thanks for the info.

I would assume my stock injectors are pretty clean at only 41k

You need to extend the brake lines, and may get away without an sye but it would be better to have one or a tc drop. I personally like full coils but spacers would be ok

You SHOULD get an adj track bar. If not, your axle won't be centered, and you will never have a proper alignment. That said, I'm sure you know a lot of people don't buy a track bar at 3". It isn't needed for the Jeep to function, but it is needed for the Jeep to function properly.

Besides that, you may need extended brake lines. I didn't install them when I lifted mine, but I never got a chance to wheel it and test the flex.
