Yes that is what you should do. I'm at almost 5" with mine and I have no Tc drop or sye. Mines a 4.0, AW4, 231, and d35.

 

Vibes at 3" of lift shouldn't be very bad. You might not even get them. Like I said earlier, if you do get them, a transfer case drop, which you can get pretty cheap on here, should solve your vibes.

 

Ok do I'm getting the 6.5 in iro lift for my wj, are the shocks it comes with any good?

 

I just got my XJ back from Big O. They fixed a few things, but won't mess with transmissions or x-cases. They said my rear driveshaft is slipping out of the transfer case and I need a drop for it, but I don't know how much lift the previous owner lifted the rear. They didn't put any kit on; they just threw on parts to lift it. The blocks in the rear look about 3 to 4 inches tall. How can I figure out how much of a transfer case drop I need? And SYE isn't an option as I've got to either rebuild or buy a used transfer case because the chain in mine is clanging around.

 

First of all, if you have 3-4" lift blocks in the rear, you should ditch those soon. A 1" drop should do you fine If it's a 3-4 " lift.

 

I assume 3-4 inch blocks are too big?

X2. Blocks cause axle wrap, ride rough, don't flex very well, and are bad leaf springs.

 

Also, what do you have upfront by way of lift?

 

Anyone have any ideas on homemade rear bumpstops? My search feature isn't working.

 

I'm on 2.5" on lift with Rubicon wheels. I run 245/75 on mine. Might run 225/75 or 235/70.
