I have searched here and pirate to find anybody that has built their own long arms. Was ginna start with building a custom cross member that the arms would connect to and really beef it up and how it mounts. Now my question is what size tubing? I have priced 1 1/2 quarter wall D O M. Over kill? Not enough? Any thoughts or maybe point me to a thread about this. Thanks in advance!

Well I started a thread for the following question but no answer. I hope its ok to post this here as I don't know where else to out it... Ok so I want to seafoam my jeep and I know that you have to put it in the gas tank, the oil, and the vac lines. But once you do this you are supposed to change your oil 200 miles after seafoaming... But I just changed my oil. My question is do you have to do all 3 at once or can I do the gas and vac lines now and do the oil later (mid June)? I just don't know if it matters...? Thanks for any help.
P.S. I just changed my oil like a week and a half ago

i think you'll find that most joints have an insert size requiring the DOM to have an I.D. if like 1-5/8", so you'll probably want to go with at least 1.75"x0.25" DOM for the arms.

Personally - i would go with 2.5" johnny joints on the ends, which require a 2" O.D. DOM, especially for long arm lowers. For the uppers/upper link you can step down to like a 1.5"x0.12" DOM with smaller joints.

At a minimum i say 0.25" thick for the lowers, .12" thick for the uppers. Pick your joints first, then match the DOM to the shank size.

Thank you all much. Place I get my metal can get my joints too. I think I may go 2 1/2 lowers and 2 upper. All in all is it cheaper to build my own or just buy a kit? Had some pretty good ideas for my cross member that would ( in my mind) be a lot better than what I could order.

Anyone use an iron rock offroad lift kit? I am thinking about the 5.5" long arm one. How does it compare to rubicon express? How does it flex? Thanks for answering any of my questions!
