What are people's opinions on running a 4.5" lift without an adjustable track bar, at least for a small amount of time. I'm about to upgrade my 3" lift with spacers and shackles, and I'm on a budget.

However at 4.5", you can re-drill the hole for the trackbar at the axle side. You'll need a new hole (5/16"?) 3/4" to the right of the existing hole. This will allow you to use your stock trackbar

Anyone have a Tuff Country 3.5 Inch lift? I have ordered one and read a ton of reviews with 90% being good. Just want to know how you like your and if if was easy to install.
I asked a question about suspension about a week ago and have not had any replies. I am looking into a 3-4" lift. I have been trying to decide between
Rusty's $438
Rough country $509
Rubicon express $800
I saw Stacey David do a rusty's lift on a jk and it looked good, and for the price it sounds good, but is it shot or will it hold up as a daily driver and occasional wheel???

The biggest thing most people overlook is the fact that the "budget" lifts usually use an "add-a-leaf" for the rear springs - which is basically another piece of spring steel that requires you to take apart the existing leaf pack, and put it in the middle of the others, then rebuild the pack. The problem with this is you're using a really stiff piece of steel, in a stock leaf pack - yes it'll get you the height initially, but it will ride like crap, and will eventually sag back down to almost where you started height wise. I STRONGLY suggest getting a kit that includes full replacement leaf packs for the rear. Some of the kits list it as an add-on option at the bottom (Rough Country does this).
As far as manufacturers - Rusty's and Rough Country have IMO the most complete kits on the market - and for a good price.
No matter which kit you choose, if your intent is to go 3-4", will will at minimum need the following items:
New coil springs
new full height leaf springs (or new leaf springs and shackles)
new shocks
new brake lines, or mount relocation kits
new adjustable trackbar
new adjustable lower control arms (or extended fixed ones)
extended swaybar links
for a 97-01 Cherokee - you may need a SYE kit and new rear driveshaft, or at minimum a transfer case drop kit and rear leaf spring degree shims
extended bumpstops
No, I don't lick fish.

Alright guys, here's the deal
Just installed a set of 235/75's on my jeep and unfortunately the OEM springs from the JY that I pulled and threw on it still sag (not as bad, but still)... I was going to get a new set of MD or HD OEM springs from quadratec but that's going to wind up being $200 bucks plus shipping and then next year, i plan on doing a 3" lift.... so I don't want to spend 200+ this year just to turn around next year and spend another grand plus tires
so I'm going to go cheap.... yes I know cheap is not going to give me a good ride quality or totally awesome offroad performance, but I don't get off road near as much as I'd like to, and when I do go off roadthe tire like to rub real bad... I know I could just get extended bumpstops, but I want the jeep to sit more level anyway...
so I decided between 2" blocks or lift shackles.... my local AZ has lift blocks for 34.99, but I'd rather not do a block if I could find a shackle at a comparable price... AZ has some, but they are "lowering" shackles... which of course wouldn't lower it the way ours is set up...
the question is, will these shackles be okay used as lift shackles when they are made for lowering? I hope so, because they're only 39.99
someone who knows for sure please....

Hey guys I've got a 99 cherokee. I'm planing on putting a 4.5 inch la lift on it. I don't want to remove the stock flares. What size tires should I get? Yesterday I saw one with 31 12.50s and it looked pretty good but I know 31s are normally for a 3 inch lift. What do you think would be best? 31s 32s or 33x12.50? Also does anyone make a 32 12.50? Thanks guys!
