Is it worth replacing the u joints on the front shaft, could that be causing vibes? Can I remove the front shaft and try driving then?
Is there anything else you would try before going to a sye. I already know the pros and cons of a tc drop. I dont like the idea but am not opposed to it. Just seeing if i am missing something.

If i go sye, I am looking at around $1000. $370 for tom woods and then install labor. I am not qualified for the sye install (as far as I know)

Go SYE, you don't have to go Tom woods, cheaper option that works just as well for far cheaper is a rebuilt stock front driveshaft. New centering yoke is about $40 and 3 new u-joints are about $45 plus whatever the driveshaft costs.

If you don't feel comfortable doing the SYE, I'd be happy to give you a hand doing it. I'm local and have a pile of tools.

Don't even get me started on that half-a**ed crap.

Shims won't fix the issue unless he's running shackles, T-case drop is only a band-aide.

Nope, having a low pinion front shouldn't have anything to do with it.

I was thinking of replacing my stock coils and leaf springs (which have sagged alot) with newer ones from a junk yard. I know that they have 4-6 leaf spring packs from 97 or newer cherokees which I'm assuming haven't sagged much. I want to do this so I will have a good platform to do a 2in BB lift on. So I have a few questions about this 1( they have 3 and 4 leaf packs, mine have 3 leaf but have sagged alot, if I go with 4 will the ride be a little stiffer but resist sagging? 2( am I wasting money doing this, should I just get a BB w/o getting new packs and coils (it would be just over $100 for everything at junkyard. 3( is there another way you would recommend lifting 2in?
Thanks

Default Can't decide between two sets of tires

I have a 2001 cherokee sport with no lift, and I am going to buy 235/75/15 tires, but I can't decide between BFG All Terrain TA/KOs and Goodyear Wrangler Radial tires. I will be doing plenty of road driving, but also plenty of wheeling. With the difference in price being taken into account, what do you guys recommend?

Thanks!

100 bucks seems steep, tgough I havent priced newer XJ leafs. S10 leafs are the same length and have more oomph and are only 40 a pair here, and coils are dirt cheap. On my jeeps the coils didnt sag at all (91-93), but my leafs wrapped bad.

My opinion: depending on if your leafs are sagging or wrapped (s-curved), get a set of S10 springs and buold a bastard back with those packs and your old XJ packs. You may have to play with the order and which leafs to use to get the ride where you want it, but at 2", if you are looking at grabbing a 'new' set of springs anyway, this might be the best bang for the buck. I used the whole s10 pack minus the overload and my top XJ leaf (cut the eyes off the top S10 leaf), and netted 3.5" (5.5 measured up from the sagging old leafs). This, in my opinion, will be a better ride than an add a leaf on a stock spring.

For the front... You can look around using the list from "what junkyard parts will fit an XJ" for a listing of donor coils, but the way I went was with new Rusty's coils. Clear up to 3" is only 99 bucks or so plus shipping. I gave up to find a wrecked lifted YJ or older T-bird, and wouldnt consider bronco coils for wheeling. All three are much more rumor and myth in terms of existance in a junk yard in my area.

Be sure to grab the shocks from the S10 in the rear, as they are longer and shouldnt cost much if anything. Side note: GMC S15, and most S10 blazers (and clones) from mid 80s to mid 90s should all be the same, give or take a rough life. The only thing stopping a person from just using s10 springs in an XJ is the bolt hole for the pack is an inch or so off, relocating the axle. Dakota leafs are.supposed.to.work as well for bastard packs.

Other option is to do the newer stock XJ springs as you were planning and do a shackle lift, but if you dont set up your bump stops correctly you will kill the spring the first few times you flex it and be back where you started. Stock springs are about maxed out when they hit the stock bump stop, (which is why they sag so bad or wrap) so it seems to me that if you add 2" of shackle lift, you have to add 2" to your bump stop to limit it to the stock travel. This doesnt hold true as much with S10 springs as they are thicker and more curved (S10 springs are less often seen sagging than XJ springs, even with more travel, which is evident from the longer shock).

Ok so I changed my mind due to cost. I have decided to just do some d window wheels for now and in a month or two do a two inch budget boost. I have the 235/75 15 tires and am going with 4inch backspacing. Should I go with the 15x7 or 15x8? Obviously one is 1inch wider but what other difference will it make? Which ones would you go with? Also when these tires wear out im going to go with the 30x9.5 if that helps any.

You'll be fine with 15x7s for 235s and 9.5s.

Default Pics of rc 4.5" lift and 31s

Ok i installed a 3 inch lift on my cherokee and bought some brandnew 31/10.50/R15 bfg km2s for it now i feel like it needs a little more lift.

The thing i am wanting from you fellow cherokee member would be pics of a cherokee with a rough country 4.5" lift and 31 inch tires.

I dont want to throw a 4.5 lift on and then it look dum cause the tires are so small......

So Please Please if POSSIBLE could some of you send me pictures to my mail box?

Thanks so much guys/gals.

Default Suggestions?!

I was looking for a lift kit around 3-4" over stock, has to be heavy duty*
On a daily basis I haul 350-400lbs

And I want it to last as long as possible
(sounds impossible haha)*

I was shortly interested in the OME heavy duty kit until I noticed they only offer the heavy duty version in 1.5" over stock

So any suggestions would be appreciated*

Well you could run the 1.5" OME with 2" shackles in the rear. That would do ya pretty good. Or you could look into rubicon express 3.5" rear leaf packs. I've heard the ride closer to 4" and are pretty stout
