This is my daily driver (highway driving), and will only be used for light off roading once in a while. I know I'll probably get flak for this, but it's mostly for the looks. So with that said, could I get away with a simple coil spacer lift in front and add-a-leaf or shackle in rear? Again, trying for 3"/31s. Thoughts?
Mine is lifted 3 inches with 31s just for looks too. I do zero offroading. I bought it with a cobbled together 3 inch lift already installed and I didnt want to lower it back down even though i had originally planned to buy a stock cherokee and not lift it. So if you want it for looks that is fine and most people here will accept that without giving you a hard time.
With that being said, dont halfass a 3 inch lift. Mine was done the cheap and wrong way and it was awful.
Save your money for awhile and buy a basic coil spring and leaf spring lift like the one from Zone. Affordable and it replaces parts that probably need replaced anyway
I need to go tomorrow to a tire shop to purchase tires for my 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo. I've searched online to find out what size I will need & a possible price. These are the 2 sizes I found: P245/70R16 106S and P225/75R16/XL 106S. Is anyone able to help me with the size I need?
I use my Jeep for general driving to work/pleasure. I also drive once or twice a month to Dallas (200 mi. round trip) for work, so not a whole lot of miles. The tires on my Jeep now are Michelin P235/70R16 104S XC LT4, but perhaps this has been the wrong size for the many years I've had them. I just want to feel secure that the tire salesman is selling me the right size.
Alright I have a 1996 XJ lifted from somewhere from 3 to 4.5 inches (the craigslist add said 4.5 but I dont think thats right and after owning it I still have no idea). My original question was would 33s fit but I was able to figure that out with my brothers wheels from his TJ. Now my question is would 35s fit with the trim it has? And do you have an estimate on lift height?
First 2 pictures are my current 31s, Last two are the 33s. This is it with 31s 31s different angle These are the 33s Rear tire with 33s
I have a 3” Zone kit for my ‘90 XJ. It’s got full leafs, t-case drop kit, shocks, coils, u-joints and sway bar quick disconnects. Me and my brother tried to install it and we just ended up breaking the stud on the rear axle for my passenger side shock. I’ve already shown my mechanic the whole kit and explained the broken stud. He said it would probably be a $400-500 install but my main concern is how many days it will take. I only get Sunday and Monday off and this is my DD. He’s highly experienced, so do you guys think he can do it in one day?
Installing the parts you list isn't a big deal. Getting the old parts off could be very time consuming. Even if all goes well your not going to know if there are other issues such as driveline vibrations to deal with once you've test driven it after a front end alignment. I'd say your pushing the envelop on time.
I just acquired a pair of 3.5" Rough Country leaf springs for the rear of my XJ. I was told I could get Thunderbird coils for the front to make it a 3.5" lift all around. Is this fact or fiction? If I install a 3.5" lift, will I need to do any other suspension, driveline or steering mods? TIA for any help.
