If I remember reading somewhere correctly, this is the best "cheap lift" that's out there? http://zoneoffroad.com/zone-offroad-...erokee/j23-j24

I don't think $700+ is a cheap lift, but Zone has a good reputation as a more affordable/entry level offering from BDS. You could do a lot worse than Zone.

I have a zone 4.5 lift. It functions just fine. Operates better when you have a load in the back. Lifts are like marriages....you get out what you put in.

Had I known what I know now, that's what I would have done. I'm pretty happy with the kit I purchased, but theres some things I would have changed, and piecing it together would have saved a little bit of headache, and some cash.
Maybe this is just the way I think of it, but just wanted to put it out there for something to think about.

My personal opinion on this, is to piece your own kit together with the things you want. Don't buy a kit just to get it up in the air. Take the time to figure out the things you want, and slowly (or quickly depending on cash flow) start ordering parts. If you KNOW you want to go 3 link, then why even buy short arms to begin with? that's actually exactly what I did, here's my plan. But now I'm thinking I should get the zone lift. It would get me up in the air as well as mark a few things off the list. And because the zone lift only comes with no adjustable lower control arms, it would give me a reason to upgrade in the future. Also, I'm only 18 and currently unemployed so money is limited. I pieced everything together over 7 months. I look in about a 50 mile radius, which covers several major cities for me, and I have several tabs open with different keywords related to what I want.

when looking for jeep parts I usually have jeep parts, xj parts, Cherokee parts, and sometimes a couple other things for keywords.

I spent the last three years researching lol.i was originally going with the RC 4.5" X-Series or the Rustys 4.5". Then I joined the forum and learned otherwise. That's when I started looking at the RE lift kit and then after that the Metalcloak which has been my favorite so far. I also researched other lifts like Zone which is where I'm at now. That's when I realized, that getting the metal cloak lift and control arm drop brackets would be the same price as getting the cav fab 3 link or B Lee 3 link. So I decided to run long arms instead, so that leaves me with needing to get some coils and leafs to go with that, so I figured I would get the Zone lift. That way I will get the coils and springs that I will need as well as Quick discos and shocks and I won't be paying the extra price for the metal cloak lift which would come with short arms that I wouldn't need since I'm doing a 3 link. If you look at the list I made, the price I would pay for all the parts I wanted such as leafs, coils, shocks, quick discos, shackles would all add up to be around the same price as the zone lift kit which has it all in one package, then I would but the 3 link, later down the road. But before that, I could but things such as the track bar, extended brakes lines, SYE & driveshaft. Oh, and I also check Craigslist daily across the whole state of NC. I usually search for "jeep parts" jeep Cherokee" "jeep lift kit" "jeep xj parts" "jeep lift parts" etc. . .
