That's a big budget for a Cherokee lift, and you can definitely get something nice. Let's figure out what will help you best.

What do you plan to use the Jeep for after you lift it? Is it cosmetic? If you plan to offroad it, what type of terrain will you be on?

Just a daily driver but also plan to off road it and the terrain is just wooded trails, mud, some hills, I'm willing to cut the fenders if I absolutely have to, I would just rather not for possible higher resale value in the future. I want the biggest lift I can get within that budget but I also want it done right.

You aren't being ignored. I wanted to look into some kits for you, but it turned into a 15 hour work day. I'll try to take a look around soon.

If you're looking for a place to start, Clayton, TnT, and Rock Krawler used to be the big names for long arm lifts. I'd start by comparing their options.

What front coil springs could I salvage from pull a part that will give me the equivalent of a 3" lift? As in what model and year should I look for that they came stock on?? I've found s10 Spring packs to make the bastard pack. And I've got a rear brake line extension already. So I'm almost there..

None that will give you a decent ride. New coils are only ~$75

From the JY parts thread...
Thunderbird Front Coils ('83-97) = 3-4" lift (varies in lift and softness by year and trim package), will need top plate from strut too
I've never seen exactly what year and trim give what lift, but if I had to guess I'd say a V6 model will probably give the 3" lift.

Well..... there isn't any vacuum lines on any xj trans. Soooooo....... You don't need help with one.

What's your issue?

No problem. Hope you caught the reply right above mine though. 3" coils made for the XJ are cheap and plentiful, and will most likely give a better ride. I'd strongly consider just buying coils, check the classifieds here or CL for an even cheaper price.

ive been going back and forth for a long time between 4.5 long arm or 4.5 short arm with drop brackets. whats the advantages and disadvantages between them. im on a budget but i want to do everything right the first time and not botch up a perfectly good xj. would i still be able to get the same articulation with short arms and drop brackets as i would with long arms? anybody running short arms with drop brackets?

long arm is right. Better ride and articulation, better clearance, in my opinion long arm all the way for doing it right. The only advantage of short arm and drop brackets is the cheaper price long arms are the way to go 100%.
