Hi everyone,
I have a 1996 XJ 4.0 with a 1.5" lift. I'm not happy with the rims & tires I currently have; since this is my daily driver and occasional outdoor toy, I'm thinking of keeping two sets of tires, one for commuting and one for the trail. With regard to tires for street use, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to get tires I like at a price I like on the stock 15" rims. So...
I've read elsewhere (but I haven't been able to find a thread on it here) that some XJ drivers have simply bought takeoff or used Patriot Latitude rims (these are 17", 5x4.5 lugs, 6.5" wide with a +40 offset). With 215/65-17 size tires, you have 28" in diameter--about the same as the stock XJ. With the lift and the offset, if I'm doing the math correctly, I don't see where any rub might happen.
Probably, but maybe not. I'd like to know if anyone's attempted this configuration successfully, because this could be a cheap solution if it works even if it would look a bit wonky.
Any guidance or correction is appreciated. Thanks.

Has anyone run an IRO setup? Been interested and seen that people have run both RE or RC( not 100% sure which) and thet were happier with the IRO lift, ride and flexability. Any one know of any pros and cons on this subject?

Critical Path long arm lift? Very mixed reviews. Lots of debate. Do your own research if you plan to go long arm.

I spend a lot of time driving the beach surf fishing up here in New England.... the National Park Service info states to go to "12 psi" on the sand.... I myself never go lower than 15 so in the event I do get stuck I can go lower. I am always conscious of the bead and refrain from turning the wheel sharp. Just my 2 cents.... and by way of disclaimer, specific to the beach and my situation running 265/75/16 Firestone Destination ATs.

Hey everyone. Getting ready to do ball joints on my 93 Cherokee sitting on 35's I just have a quick question as I am not sure what joints are in there now. Been going back and forth with the thought of stock ball joints or if I need camber/caster ball joints. Eyeballing them I cant tell what is in there. I know easy way is to just yank them out and look at them but I get a discount through work and I will tackle this on Saturday so no discount if I don't get them before hand. fyi Id say she is sitting on about 6 to 7 inches of lift. Any info is greatly appreciated.

HOW do I get the rear leaf bolts loose (name?) so I can install my lift shackles?. I used a bunch of penetrating oil, breaker bar, nothing, they wont budge. do I need air?, heat?, heat AND air?...I'm stuck halfway through this lift job (front is DONE! yay!)

Those bolts are some of the tightest bolts on the vehicle. .. if it's the lower shackle bolt with the nut on the other side you need to use a breaker bar and a combo wrench to hold the bolt from moving.... don't use heat because you'll melt the bushing... just use leverage and lots of strength... or call your strongest friend. .. make sure all 3 bolts on each leaf spring are not torqued all the way until you have the full weight of the truck on the springs. I used a 21mm impact socket with a breaker bar and 21mm box end of the combo wrench and got them but yeah you just gotta start a lot and give it all your strength to get those. . An impact gun won't do squat for you here.. good luck man I just did my leaf springs a few weeks ago and i was sore for a few days after because of those 3 bolts on each side lol

I had to use a 6' cheater with my 1/2 Drive breaker bar. And at that I snapped the bolts off on one side. But it worked. As the other guy said you need a wrench on the other side as well.
