this is what I have against them as well. They knowingly sold those defective leaves for years. I'll never. Buy from them.

Not only that, but when customers complain(ed) about the poor ride quality, RC tries to sell them their relocation brackets instead of acknowledging their own mistakes.

For what it's worth, I'm not convinced anything has been fixed. I haven't seen anything to show a change.

There was somebody with an unusual engine/trans combo that put the cross member out of the typical place which made the front axle too far back and RC did what they normally do and blame the customer even though the customer had bought the correct parts.

Apologies if this has been asked to death (I did actually try a search first, and went through about 50 before deciding to just ask,LOL.....bookoos of pages in this thread )...

I have a stock '98 XJ Sport (4.0L/auto),bought recently. It currently has 235/70-15" on it and they have a bit of dry-rot on em,so looking for new shoes. I know 235/75-15's will fit with the stock wheels fairly easy (discovered through the search, though I was pretty sure they would anyways),but want something a bit beefier,as I'll run em until they're done before looking into a lift and 31"-33" (which will give me at least a year to save...cause a disabled Vet's salary ain't much,LOL ). Will a slightly bigger than the 235/75's size fit without lots of issues on the stock wheels (up to a 30x9.50-15",dare I dream....?). Thoughts/experience? Any help/sage wisdom greatly appreciated in advance

I did some research and didn't find a whole lot of information about it. I drive a 94 XJ sport 4.0 I6. In a couple months I am planning on installing a 3.5 RE lift and Ive talked to many people who have said that because its pre 96 that just doing a small TC Drop will take care of any driveline vibrations etc. It is my daily driver and I plan on having this bad boy for a long time. I think I would like to put a SYE into it as well even though I will only be running 31's maybe 32's later on. My main issue is im not sure which transfer case I have. I also would prefer to not do the "Hack n Tap". If any one has a link or knows a way for me to find out which Transfer Case I have it would be much appreciated. Im also running a D35 not sure if that makes a difference or not. Thanks

I had 235/75/15 on it when I had the 17 year old saggy completely shot stock springs and never had any problem with them rubbing or anything. They are 29" tall and 9.3" wide which is virtually equivalent to a 30x9.50. Even though it says 30" the actual height will slightly be smaller than that, usually something like 29.4-29.7 from what I have seen with most. As for width, they are usually a true 9.50.

Well I am not certainly not an expert but I will offer what I know. From what I have heard and read the D35 driveshaft will result in less vibes after a lift, but that lift is notorious for giving everyone vibes so the TC drop is definitely a good idea. As for knowing the transfer case for the SYE, an easy way to tell is to look at your shift guide for the 4wd stick. If to has 2H 4H N 4L is it an NP231, if it has 2H 4H full time 4H part time N 4L it is an NP242.

This is shows that I have an NP321

On the back of the transfer case, to the left (drivers side) of the output shaft there should be a round red tag. At the top it should be stamped with either 242 our 231.

You can also tell by your shifter handle.
A 231 has
2hi
4hi
N
4lo

A 242 has
2hi
4full
4part
N
4lo

There's nothing wrong with a hack n tap, but if you are concerned, check out advanced adapters and rugged ridge.

Just a small note, on the 242 you have 4-hi-full and 4-hi-part backwards. I know, it doesn't seem to make sense.

Thanks,my friend
I had to make the judgement call early this morning when I ran over some debri dropped in front of me on the highway and popped the worst of the 4 I had,did in fact buy 235/75R-15",fit fine, and no noticable loss of power, even on a big hill (which I assume means it has a fairly low rear end ratio...any idea how to decipher to see what ratio I have? LOL )
