No shims until you do a SYE.
Interesting that the 4WD makes it worse, a lift with stock control arms actually helps pinion angle in the front (worsens caster, of course). Maybe your front DS is unbalanced, as in a weight fell off.. If you are actually at 3" I wouldn't say that an SYE is necessary; however, every situation is different, and and SYE certainly is never a bad idea.

IIRC they do. Something that spins that fast can be imperfectly made. Having them balanced helps that. I could be wrong but to my understanding they do.

Yep. I had to get a stock rear driveshaft after doing my 4x4 conversion because the one I had was too long. Long story short it has a dent/ bend in it and at about 60-70 mph that sucker is humming away and shaking things up. It's a harmonic kind of thing, same thing happens when it's " normally" out of balance.
ok so currently i have a rc 4.5 lift on my jeep and i did a 8.8 swap and made a bastard pack for the rear and now the back sits higher.so i want to go a little higher and level it out. i ordered a shackle relocation bracket for thew rear and and panning on ordering 8" springs for the front and a drop pitman arm. i just want to know if i can run the 8" springs with in the front with stock uppers and the rc lowers that came with the original lift? i am ordering a iro longarm upgrade in a couple weeks when my tax return get here so it wont be ran long i just want to know if its possible for the meantime. thanks

No. Absolutely not.

I'm going from 3" to 4.5 and am wondering if I'll need extended U bolts for 4.5 leafs. My current u bolts work with my 3" AAL but I'm not sure they'll reach with 4.5 leafs. Any opinions?

I used stock size u bolts for 6 leafs and it had Lot of thread left i will admit. Its advised not to re use u bolts in case you stretched the threads out

Assuming you got new u bolts with your AAL kit, yes. Although u bolts are only supposed to be torqued once or twice at the most since they stretch, so they should be replaced.

I brought my stock u-bolts to a spring shop, and said "get me these in 1/2", 1.25" longer." $30 later I was out the door. About half the price of what some brand names want for u-bolts (OME, Skyjacker, etc), and that was before shipping to Canada for me.

To summarize, going local for these might be a good option.

You should be okay. Best way is to find out how thick the 4.5" pack is, then measure your's. If you have 4.5" spring thickness minus stock+AAL thickness worth of thread left, they will work. If they are the stock original u-bolts, I would get new ones anyways, and upgrade to 1/2" (7/16" is stock).
