Hey everyone, I want to start a thread all about the different sounds systems you've put in your Cherokee. I've owned two Cherokees and I know finding information on the sound specs and whatnot can be pretty difficult. I wouldn't call myself an audiophile but I appreciate a good quality system, and other days I just want to make my ears ring
So please post any sound mods you've done, post pics too please, and be sure to put what year and what stock sound system you had, (it can be hard to tell)
along with speaker sizes, brands, whatever you can give to help out the people trying to flip that old system out.
I am new to the site and I really wanna help contribute to this wealth of knowledge, these Jeeps are great vehicles and they should be made as awesome as possible! I want to try and periodically post a consolidated list of Cherokees by year and with what speaker sizes they had (I've found alot of websites are misleading when it comes to this simple list)
I hope to see some cool stuff!

This is my current 1996 Jeep Cherokee, it originally had the Jensen Accusound system, but when I bought it, it had no amp and the tweeters were there but they didn't work. I am a college student so I got a JVC KD-R520 headunit from Best Buy for $80. It plays Pandora through my iPhone and I love the headunit. I also got a pair of Alpine Type-R 5.25" speakers for the front doors because when I got it the stock speakers were missing their foam surround and they just sounded like crap. The Type-Rs were 100 some bucks from Amazon and they sound incredible, I was thinking about getting another pair for the sound bar in the back but my ears already hurt a little from these, and they sound amazingly clear. Finally my sub setup at the moment is 3 10" MTX subs, pushed with some California Profile amp. I'm not a fan of the amp, its offbrand and janky. I'm hoping sometime soon I can maybe get a Fosgate amp to push these subs up closer to their max, I'm running 400 RMS and they can take 750 easily. Overall I'm really happy with the sound for the amount of money I paid, hopefully when I get more settled I can start spending more money on my Jeep!

I had the stock tape deck that crackled when you turned it up on the freeway till I got the marine deck off my dads boat. He wanted a remote for the radio so I got the old clarion boat cd player. As for speakers, I took all the blown/water damaged speakers out and put two medium size home audio speaker boxes in, made by sony. It sounds pretty good for all free and when I'm at the drive in I can put my speakers on the roof and sit outside and listen to my suround system. Hahaha. One day I plan to put car speakers in with a car deck and the sub I have in so I can remember what a real quality audio system sounds like. I got into working on cars threw sterios and now its the most rigged crap I have on my jeep.
