Post All black XJ, what color bumpers?

I've got an all black 01 XJ. A JCR Crusader front bumper will be here in a few days and I'll be doing the rear eventually also.

All this time I've been thinking I'll be going with satin black for the bumpers. Now I'm having second thoughts. Silver is an option as well as dark grey. Or something else?

What say you?

IMHO, You have to decide for yourself. I would try to find a xj sport picture that you can print off or sketch and just try different colors. You will probably need to look at a whole scheme. If you ever watch Chip Foose work, it's never one piece but a package that is brought together by different colors and, (yikes) pin striping.

I'm not proposing pin stripes but consistent contrast is important. You have a nice looking start there. In-vision the end product and work backwards to it.

Good Luck. Happy Jeepin"

Well, the sad truth is that I searched for pictures of XJ'S. Looked through hundreds and the ones that I kind of liked, I added to a photo file. When I was ready, I went through the photo file and found the one that I most liked and made that picture my screensaver. After looking at it for a couple of months, I decided that I would pattern my XJ along the lines of my screensaver XJ.

That's what I'm personally doing. Adding and taking away from a picture that I liked.

I suppose in my own weird way of thinking, I am flattering the guy who's XJ I am using for my project.

I doubt you would want to do a jeep like anyone that lives locally but then again, if you like his, he would like yours too. LOL

Happy Jeepin'

Do you have and know how to use Photoshop or similar?
Make your own pictures before and after.

Before i decided to paint my wheels and truck bed'd the rockers up to the trim, i took pics of my Jeep and photo shop'd them.

I say dark grey. Black on black is boring. I would suggest spraying it with cheap paint in a desired color. Drive it around for a while and make sure you love it. Then when you have color absolutely sorted out, strip it and bedliner it. Mine is rustoleum satin black (on a white XJ). I plan to bed liner it when I get rear bumper done, plan to do both bumpers at same time. I have to touch it up often as it chips every time I take it off road. Guess it would help if I quite hitting things. But I digress.

i put dark grey, if for nothing but a bit of contrast.
maybe about like the color of the dark grey Grizzly wheels? almost a gunmetal.

but i do agree, seeing it in person is a different thing. its hard to tell how something will look before its already put together.

I always liked silver when it comes to cages, links, steering, bumpers etc. That's how I was going to paint my black jeep but my friends always laugh and call me a raiders fan

gunmetal would be good too
