Are u looking into it as a performance mod, personally I don't like those and I made my own intake mod. The air now comes from my cowl and into the stock air box, I would swear it gives it more power bit my main reason for doing it was to raise the intake up. I capped the front and piped in the back.

wow, thats a great idea...i have heard if guys using operating cowel inductions and hood vents (dont really want to cut open my nice clean hood...) but this looks like a great, simple, straightforward idea..you still use the stock filter/box assembly ?, do you get any water. rain etc coing in from the hood cowel?

Ya stock except the flexible hose and the front is capped u trim the air filter a little and drill a couple of holes and not a drop of water u can even start it and idle with ice on the top of he cowl if u search cowl snorkel on here u should find were I got my original idea
Actually if u look up dukie564 and scroll down to "my version of a cowl snorkel"

87 thru 90 are renix models the throttle body mounting is more of a triangle than round not to many upgrades for them

Xj's get way hot under hood, so that is a hot air kit. You want to pull air from outside the engine compartment. If you want bling, go for it. Other wise save your cash for useful stuff. Btw logdog, that is pretty sweet. Do you get a lot of intake noise? I want to do mine that way, but have the filter in-cab.

a true cold air intake system involves air being introduced into the motor after passing thru a cell filled with ice all systems that do not do this are just less restictive or ram air systems

no just trying to state they call them cold air intakes but they are not they just allow greater air flow to the motor not really cold air just draws cooler air from in front of the grille if you have the money buy one they do help just not really any made for 87 thru 90 xjs you have plenty of them made for your year all do about the same

No noise at all and the jeep is louder when I drive so it leads me to believe that it gave me at least a little power
