'87 Renix. Long story short. Swapped idiot light cluster for gauge cluster. Installed new sensors for use with gauges. Gauges don't read properly. Lots of troubleshooting. Gauges suck a$$.

Installing aftermarket temp gauge but I have a question about the sensor socket on the block (the one next to cyl 6). What size is that hole? The new sensor I bought from AA says that its a 1/8-27 NPT but we all know how reliable part store info can be. Being that everything is metric (that I've found so far) I'm wondering if this hold is threaded metric too. I've found this temp gauge that reads in Fahrenheit but has metric adapters. Or is the hole threaded 1/8-27 NPT?

Thanks!

Why don't you check what size the old sensor is?

The old sensor and the new sensor are the same size. They both fit properly in the hole, giggity. But as NPT size measurements have NO relation to actual size I can't just measure with my caliper.

Um, when you swapped to full ICP, did you swap in a sender for a GAUGE, not an light?

why not just get them to check it at the parts store before you buy it.. At advanced they took 3 brass plugs out of the box for me to try when i plugged the previous location of my IAT. I wouldnt think it would be much of an issue.

Yes. I said that in my original post. Just looked back, my bad. I said I purchased the sensors for use with gauges. I meant to say sender.

I'm going to take my old one down there and try out some brass plugs. Thanks.
