after market radio wiring issues
I've got a 99 xj and I installed an after market radio about a year ago and now the faceplate lit up saying "warning miswiring" so I checked all the connections and replaced the aftermarket wiring and bought a different radio but that one said the same thing but the stock radio works when I pulled it out of storage and put that back in so any ideas?

Sounds like you have voltage somewhere it shouldn't be...? Just a guess. I'd get a multimeter and start checking the harness. Also, you might wanna check the door grommets. The speaker wires are known to short out in there... might have something to do with it?

Does it play video? Mine (double din pioneer) gave me a similar message the first time I attempted to ground the parking brake cable- Running it into an existing ground did not do it. I ground it out to the frame and had no problem.

it doesn't play video but the grounding doesn't seem to be the issue I grounded first to the 6 disk cd changer that was factory and tried on my subwoofer amps ground so I'll try out the multimeter Idea see if something isnt getting power thanks for the advice guys

It's worth a try to check the door grommet like I said. Those wires are known for shorting out... and since this all randomly happened one day, it makes sense. Insulation wore through, shorting out, etc. Pull back the thing and check.
