yeah autozone should have a tubing cutter. You will only need the smalles one they have. if you have a flaring tool it will help also. I like to slightly flare the ends of the metal lines if Im going to use rubber, kind of insurance that the hose doesnt slide off

Alright I need some quick help. I started installing this an it's been a complete PITA. I have to go back to the part store cuz the kit doesn't have enough rubber house included to run all the plumbing. Haven't cut any hard lines yet just mounted the cooler. Here is my questions

1) went to double check to make sure the top line was the return. Removed the hard line an immediately it started POURING fluid out of the radiator. If it was the feed line it would have poured out the line correct? Sounds stupid but I thought this was gonna be quick an easy an it hasn't been so I wanna prevent anymore heartache.

2) I used the tie clamps to mount the cooler. This wasn't covered anywhere in the installation instructions. I ran the ties from the engine side of the radiator. The kit included some rubber pads. I placed them on the back of the cooler to provide a little space between the condenser an cooler. Is that right? Not that it truly matters right now cuz I have already run the ties an clamped it down an it's not going anywhere.

I may have another question or two pop up but if I can get this part figured out before I start cutting lines I think I will be ok.

Anytime you undo a tranny line you're going to get some oil, all of this is why I love my 5 speed.

1) Remove one of the hard lines and have a friend quickly start the engine and then shut it off. If fluid pours out of the line then it's the feed line.

2) I'm not a fan of the clips but lots of people use em with no problems. And yes you ran the tie clamps correctly.

Yea already turned it on. Just me there. Fluid poured out the radiator not the line I had disconnected so I'm almost positive that's the return line

Alright just got done buttoning everything up. No leaks that I can fine. Gonna take it for a drive tomorrow to see what happens tho. Everything went pretty smooth once I got some new hose. It's cold as crap here tonight so it didn't really warm up to much sitting in the garage running but tomorrow will be the test. If it didn't leak sitting there I doubt it will leak then.

Good to you hear that you got it finished up. If it leaks then put 2 hose clamps on each connection.

Took it for a ride this evening. No leaks anywhere that I could find. I double clamped it from the get go to prevent that. I am still a little concerned about the placement right in front of the mechanical fan. I couldn't get it any closer to the center with out taking the aux fan off to run the tie strips thru. It didn't seem to be a problem today as it didn't get over 210 at all but it's also only about 30 degrees. I'm wondering if the mechanical fan will be able to push enough air thru when I'm back in Mississippi an it's 112 this summer. Hopefully by then I will be running duel electro fans tho. On top of that I couldn't come up with any other place to put it cuz I wasn't about to remove the aux fan an all the crap in the way last night

the mechanical fan pulls air through. so the cooler will get the fresh air first.
Youll be fine with the cooler in fromt of the radiator. They are pretty open and shouldnt get that hot. At least not enough to affect coolant temps.
If anything its better in front of the mechanical fan because at a stand still or low speeds it will still be cooling the trans.

Yea I was just a little worried about it getting air thru to the radiator after passing the cooler an condenser. I know the cooler is gonna be nice an cool either way.
