Default 99+ intake swap question

I have a 99+ intake laying around my garage and I just bought a nex exhaust for my jeep with a header. When I put the header on I figure I might as well put the intake on to since the old one is gonna be off already. My question is is it a simple bolt on swap or do I need the injectors and fuel rail off the 99+ intake? And if that's the case will my harness connect to the diffrent injectors?

Use your existing injectors and rail. Or "upgrade" to the neon 4-holes and the correct regulator while you've got it all apart. I had to swap over one of the vacuum "T's" from my old manifold and re-configure the hoses but it was nothing difficult. I also did the throttle body mod while it was off as well.

What's the advantage of swapping in a newer one? I have a 96 xj and have a 98 intake laying around

Thanks just the answer I was hoping for! Ill probably do the injector upgrade and a bored throttle body later when my budget allows the new exhaust and header kinda maxed me out. Haha

Those intakes are the same. For 99+ 4.0s chrysler beefed up the emissions to meet high epa requirements which took its toll on the horsepower of the motor so they redesigned the intake. In theory the 99+ intakes flow more air and give more hp to older motors without the new emissions. Gains are minimal if that's the only mod you do. It works best with a high flow exhaust and and better air induction system. Do a search if you wanna find out more.
