96 swap to 99 motor and trans.
I have a 96 Grand Cherokee laredo with good everything but the body
I want to buy a 99 and swap my 96 to the 99 because the 99 has a blown motor.. will this work?

Use the Motor ONLY. Keep the transfer case as a spare, unless it is a AWD sell that. The XJ transmission is much better than the ZJ, so keep the AW4. There are tons of parts on that ZJ that can be used on the XJ.
