94' ZJ tranny in to a 97' XJ???????

Can you put a 94' ZJ auto tranny into a 97' XJ? I got a 94 ZJ tranny for almost free. it is in great shape, I need a tranny for my 97' XJ and I am on tight time frame and an even tighter budget. Can i install this tranny with just a splicing of the correct wires at the harness in the engine bay? PLEASE HELP!!!

The ZJ tranny is a 42RE and will not work in an XJ. It will bolt up, but it will not work with the XJ wiring harness and trans controller. You may be able to work out a trade with a transmission shop though.
