what could be the possible causes of the flywheel locking up? we were having a prob with it cranking and not starting so replaced the brain(ecm) and crankshaft position sensor,it started firing then but then the flywheel pretty much locked up. you can turn the motor by hand with the belt but somewhere around the flywheel it's locked up. did try changing starters in case that's what it was.(makes clicking sound when attemping to start) but it's too stiff for the starter to turn it.all pulleys have been checked. distributor turns but hear no noises when turning motor by hand.

im not tottaly sure if something internal broke im takeing off the oil pan and haveing a closer look when i turn the motor by hand it turns freely and i hear no noises but im going to turn it by hand again and see if the flywheel is turning with it when my son gets home extra hand :}

you can try turing the flywheel with a big screw driver
