91-95 4.0 into 98??

If I use a 4.0 from 91-95 in a 98 jeep cherokee sport what all do I need to change?

I buddy of mine replaced his motor in his 97' with a 94' and I believe I remember his saying the distributor and a few other sensors needed to be changed. I bet some pro's on here will be able to go into more detail

It can be done.

you will need to use the sensors for the year of your vehicle, but everything else from what i am aware of is plug and play.

now there will be an extra sensor on the older engine, it will be the temp sensor in the rear drivers side of the head. you will not use it in your 98 but just leave it in there for plugging the hole. your sensor is intergrated with the fan switch in the thermostat housing. idk about the distributor, but the rest should work. now you might need to use your throttle body and possible the intake manifold off your 98, but idk.
