89 keep xj 8.25 axle brake disc conversion parts
Hi all. I have an 8.25 axle out of an xj that I am going to install on my 89 xj. I have also a second axle from a liberty with disc brakes and a limited slip diff... planning on taking the disc brakes and the LSD from the liberty and installing on my 8.25 xj axle...but I need to know what I need to buy new for brakes line, and if there are instructions on installing the LSD. Or any tricks.....also I'm thinking of getting a lift kit. But do not want to do any modifications..how high can I go without any mod....
Thanks for all the help

I realize that's wordy and probably hard to follow.
Use the lines from the liberty, do not use the liberty splitter block. Keep the Cherokee splitter block and the soft line that goes from it to the body. Cut the ends off the liberty lines (the ones that would thread into the splitter block). Since you took the original hard lines off the cherokee axle, cut the tube nuts off and slide those on the liberty hard lines. Flare the ends, and thread everything together.
I should have taken pictures.

Other than potential gear ratio difference (I'm not totally familiar with the liberties options) why not just setup the liberty axle with leaf spring perches and shock mounts for your XJ?
Vs
Swapping over the brakes and then removing the LSD that may or may not be correct for your gear ratio which leads to other solutions like new gears for one or both your axles? either way you would need the gears re-setup correctly for its new home(s) and if your not doing that yourself - it's not exactly super cheap.
