Exclamation 88 Laredo radiator advice

I have just picked up a 88 Laredo with the 4.0 I6 with a stock radiator. I've had quite a bit of over heating problems, no small part due to a pinhole leak in the radiator. I'm about to go on a 1,200 mile trip and I don't want to overheat so my plan is to upgrade, I've heard the "burp" style is known for its poor quality cooling so I don't want to go stock. I'm not sure what I want to get or where to get it from, any suggestions to help solve this problem o' mine? Need advice on where to get cv Axel's, u joints and a replacement for my dented driveline as well if there are any specifically better brands or shops to pick them up from. Thanks for your time.

I recently replaced my radiator with an all aluminum from shepherdauto. I know you said you don't want an oem style replacement but after replacing the radiator and thermostat my temp and cooling is running absolutely perfect with it. I've yet to see what happens in the summer with the heat but I have no doubt this thing will hold up and keep my xj cool for as long as I drive it.

The closed system on renix cherokees works pretty well, the only trick to it is getting the air out. I replace my radiator, radiator hoses, thermostat, and thermostat housing over a year ago and it hasn't overheated. After you get the majority of the air out on the driveway, park it on a fairly steep hill facing down, take the cap off the bottle, and let it run for 15-20 minutes.

I checked out the shepherd website and $109 seems fair, I was just really hoping to find the style with the cap on the radiator that was meant to fit right in. It's ok tho. Any advice for a good spot to get cv axels, quality u joints and a new driveline? I was thinking about hitting up a local driveline shop for a dl tho.
