What's all involved in doing the swap? I currently have the stock dash with idiot lights. Wanna put in a gauged dash? I have access to a much newer one with no speedo cable and a different hook up at the back of the cluster.
Could I hit the junk yard and grab the sensor feed off of the tranny plus the plug, then just wire it to my harness?
86 dash clusters are getting harder to find:-(

I headed up to the junk yard today and got lucky. I found a good gauge cluster dash in an 88. My research tells me that 84-86 use a slightly different speedo cable attachment. That means you need to grab the cable as well. I couldn't get at the spot it attaches to the tranny. They stock the cars on large cement blocks. I broke another one. Then I got lucky and found one that was not attached in an MJ. Tested it and it fit to the hook up on the cluster. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it in. Never found out he the newer one can be retro fitted. Read a little something that leads me to think it may conflict with the computer.
