I'm getting the whole jeep so all that is there already I hope. Only thing wrong with the jeep is the motor is blown. But lots of after market parts.
8.8 rear
4"+ lift
Roof rack with 4 KC daylighters
Good tranny and transfer case
New shocks
4 bfg mud terrains with less than 300 mi on them

Unless your running 35s or bigger you really don't even need the 8.8..the 8.25 will handle 33s with ease and will put up with 35s.
If you can get the whole jeep for 500 then that's a decent deal.

That's was my thoughts.....and I figured that if the 8.8 is already set up for the XJ I might as well swap into mine.

The only problem with the 8.8 swap is the 8.8 differential hangs low and you will lose ground clearance, that will not be much of a problem if your tire size is large enough.
33s and taller tires fine, shorter than that you'll lose more in ground clearance than you gain in axle strength.

So the parts Jeep has a 4"+lift with 32's I know I can run the 32's easily with the 8.25 but someone stated earlier that if go with the 4"+ lift that's on it I would have to shim the 8.25 is that true and what does it consist of? If its not a problem I leave the 8.25 right where it is. And part out the rest of it

So I have dropped the 8.8 out of the parts jeep, what I found was a driveshaft that's 32 1/2" long compared to my stock ds that is around 29" pulled the diff cover and found 4.10 gears and a LSD. The drive shaft was bolted to a plate where it connects to the pumpkin, is this the pinion angle that someone mentioned earlier?
