With the loop all the U bolt has to do is hold the 2 pieces of cable together (what it was designed to do) it doesn't move. I'm just saying... you're asking a lot of that U bolt making it hold the piece of cable to a piece of metal that moves as you apply the ebrake.

By far the safest thing is to find a cable that works unaltered but IMO the loop method seems safer.... to me...
