Does anyone know where i can get a good cheap lift kit between 5 and 8 inches? No rough country

First off Why so Tall ?

Second 5-8" will not be cheap if done properly You'll need a SYE/Driveshaft, Highsteer, Longarms, and need to regear for the tire size you'll run for a lift that tall

I bought a 8" lift on Craigslist. Paid $1300 for it, including the lift, long arms, Bilstein shocks and track bar. Then regeared, added a drop pittman arm, bigger tires and my lift and everything that went with it cost me just north of $4K

Good and cheap should not be used in the same sentence. Be prepared to drop like 2k on a good setup. That's not including tires or gears.

I would buy everything seperate.

Can easily have a kit to fit your needs for under a grand.

Fortunately lifting a xj does not have to be expensive and you don't have to be a rocket scientist

The lit can be inexpensive, its the gears and tires that was the expensive part

Still have to nickle and dime it. 8" with 31's. Been done before.

Do the math. 5-8" is a lot to want to achieve cheaply. Plus, with the weight of 33-35s, I'm assuming, you should definitely atleast get a steering box spacer. Frame stiffeners would be even better. And how about recovery points and skid plates?

See how fast it adds up? Just empty every pocket.

Also going to need an adjustable track bar, shocks, really need long arms at that point, going to need to address steering, driveline (SYE/HNT),

I had a 3 inch rc lift and it served it's purpose. Cheep and got me in the woods.but now I'm on a 6.5 iron rock long arm complete kit and love it.you can piece a lift together but is it worth taking all the time piecing it together. To me it wasnt.i have a buddy that has and continues to do that and he's always breaking or having to fix **** to go wheel which I never do . Hope in and go.just do it right once and up grade as u go. I know mine won't be done for a long time but it's very capible wheeler/daily if I need it to be.

If he is on the cheap you can just run 2.5 shims on the back and an transfer case lowering kit (even though I hate them) and skip sye and shafts. Go with the 5.5 springs mentioned.

Brake lines are good and cheap through auto parts. Shocks are cheap through auto parts or on line and do a good job.
Track bar re location kit. Pitman arm, stops are very cheap.
No need for gears unless he is pulling a trailer. Tires you can buy used.

Shoot for a grand I could be riding high on 35's safely in my Cherokee with a big Ole smile! LOL

Some of the things you suggest for a $1k build I would hate to take out on a trail..........or even the highway with 3.55's and 35" tires.

Sometimes "Cheap" just works out to be way to "Expensive" in the long run, not to mention a lot of extra work.
