you sure you know what all is involved in this swap? usually people have a full build plan laid out before going and physically picking up their axle. You're most likely going to be looking at new bearings, ball joints, cutting and welding, new lockouts, seals, differential rebuild. new wheels for the correct lug pattern, building steering, definitely new ujoints. it's a big undertaking and the budget could easily reach $2000 and beyond and you still have to worry about swapping in a rear axle with it.
I got a ford 8.8 I'm gonna throw in with 4.10 gears. The d44 guy wants 450$ needs one hub he says. I can't find a build three or a truss for that matter to make things easier.axle has disc brakes this and I know steering needs to be made.
76/77 are the only desirable years for old 1/2t d44. you can cut those radius wedges off and do a 3 link. the stock axle by itself is worth $600-$800 in California (everything really is more expensive here)

yeah I guess that pretty much covers everything. brakes and steering
well TNT makes a ford D44 truss, I'm sure they would be happy to weld on or include whichever bracketry you would like

there is nothing really wrong with the ford radius arms. sure they're not a 3 link setup, but i've seen 78/79 axles installed in an xj using extended ford radius arms and it still flexed like a ****.
i have a set of these axles in my garage thinking one day i was gonna swap them into one of my jeeps, just haven't thought out the arm setup i was gonna use yet. jeffs bronco graveyard sells custom long arm setups for these ford axles but i've seen other guys weld on extensions and mount them up to their cross members.
i was just hoping someone would come out with a truss that would fit over these cast wedges to accommodate upper/lower arm setups to make it easy.

make sure that they are steel and not cast. and yeah, steel can be cut off and a truss can be welded on for control arms. there are already a few companys that make a truss for ford d44 fronts, just need to clean up the tubes so the truss will fit.
Dose it matter if it's a full size or not because this axle is the Same size as a d30 I think not full size.size
