Do the 4.88's, the front will need a ratio appropriate carrier (they do not make 'thick' cut gears for the d30).

Do a set of 4340 chromoly axles (I sell those at only $375 a set complete with forged Spicer 760 ujoints) and if you have a 27sp rear, I have 29sp alloy axles for less the 100$ ea. Then all you need is the 29sp detroit and your rocking a Very strong very capible setup, that with just basic common sense will survive without issues on 35's for most everyone out there.

Dont go and over think it. Its Very common to see 4.88's in a high pinion D30 (what you have) survive without issues for most. If you put a insert (cheaper style known also as lunch box) locker in the open carrier then that, becomes your weakest front end link. But Alot of people still do not have issues, even with that combo.
