i got my case dropped and a 6 degree shim in the rear...no problems i would like a sye but you don't have to spend the money just drop the case

and do I need the extra 1" tc drop? no but I had it on before the SYE and never took it off.


and NO I didnt have to cut a lot off I just bump stopped it. No there isnt a lot of uptravel but there is a fair amount of down travel. and its good enough for me and still looks good

Buy an sye. Shims and t case drops are for newbs.

or people trying to do what they can with what they have...drops and shims are cheap ways to get the lift in and driving til you can afford a sye

True, do it if you have NO choice, but just cuz you do it and don't get vibes doesent mean you should put it on the back burner. Get it done and have the peace of mind. All I was stating is that newbs shim and tcase drop, then leave it that way. Do it right, or your jeep is no better than the f150 next to you at the light with 6" of body lift, and nitto dune grabblers.

lol so Im a newb huh? Is there any disadvantage to having shims and a tc drop and leaving it that way? with the TC drop yea you lose an inch in clearance but theres not going to be any problems with that set up what so ever. I have a sye and a tc drop, big whoop . If anyone has legit disadvantages other than the clearance loss please let me know because I really dont think there are any nor have I had any problems with it like that.

TC drop doubles the shear load on the fasteners. Hit a rock at the right angle and you'll bust the hardware. Seen it happen.

Because you said that, yes your a total newbie. Go to pirate 4x4.com and open an account. Start a thread titled, "is there really any disadvantages to leaving my tcase drop and not getting an sye?".....I dare you.

but see here's the problem not everyone rock crawls hell 75% of the people that lift stuff never wheel the rig at all.a drop and shim is fine for a street driven xj that see's light wheeling. pirate is insane guys on there all operate at whole different level..i don't understand why every thread that starts as a simple "whats a stronger axle than my d35" turns into "put an 8.8 in or tons or rocks" just like this t case drops are not the greatest thing but they do work you can't deny that they've been doing it forever..if he want's to go wheeling hard sye all the way, i just got all the stuff together for a hackntap..but as a day to day driver that gets light wheeling drops are fine..

this is not a dedicated offroad site..it is bias that way but you gotta take into consideration everybody uses there jeep for different things nowhere even in the modified section does it state this is an offroad site....if i wanted to air ride and put 24s on my xj it should still be an accepted thread and not get flamed.....just saying..

Im sorry but Im not a hardcore wheeler like the guys on Pirate. and idk if you misread but I DO have a SYE but I just never took off my TC drop. 1 cuz im probably just too lazy and 2 no problems. I have had my setup like I have it now for 4 years now and no problems what so ever. granted I only wheel once a month due to my job and college but I have taken my jeep through some pretty tough S*** and no problems. maybe I have been lucky but I only told the OP that because that setup hasnt caused me problems. Frank thanks for letting me know I honestly didnt know that. I dont usually suggest things to people unless I know what Im talkin about. but with this one being I have used my setup like this for 4 years I figured id chime in. so to the OP dont do as I do I guess.
