Ok so what is the smallest lift I can have and run 37s and still be able to flex it out I'm gettin a truck next week and want to put my 33s on the truck cause they're great a/t tires and get a set of 37 m/t for the jeep and also when I get the truck the jeep will be my dedicated trail rig but any info and pics yall have to offer would be greatly appreciated

 

SUPPOSEDLY, according to most of the manufacturers, an 8" long arm lift can flex out on 35's with fender trimming...but i run 33's on a 4.5 long arm with fenders trimmed as far as they can be while still looking decent...surely you can do some modification to make it all work out...but you're definitely gonna have to address your drivetrain if you run anything bigger than a 33 IMO

 

Depending how much flex you're looking for I've seen guys with 6.5" long arm lifts and 36s flexing quite a bit. They just trimed alot of their fenders, and beat in the inner fender well some. You could most likely get by with the same, but for massive flex I would just splurge for the 8" long arm lift. Like said before you will need to address drivetrain though. The guys with 36s broke axles alot or had upgraded to dana 44s or dana 60s.

 

there was an article in the last Jp Magazine about some of the benefits/drawbacks between 33, 35 and 37" tires. i dont wanna get long winded with this post, so ill suffice to say, 37's arent necessarily better than 33's ar 35's... idk just thinking out loud! also, i suppose the saying go big or go home might apply here. deff. post some pics either way

before all this tire yap yap.. are you planning on upgrading axles?

if you are upgrading and going to full widths you can go lower... if you are running stockers you will need to go higher...

1) you will tear the stock axles apart
2) you want to go wider track width with 37's

but there is a guy on here with 36's and 4" lift on full widths. It is all about droop rather than up travel. and with a properly set up suspension about 4-5" uptravel is all you need.

 

if you are going to be beating your xj on rocks all day you will have to upgrade at least the rear axle if your going to wheel with care stock axles can and will work been running stock axle with 38s for a while and no problem what so ever gearing change is a must either way

 

I'm planning on getting full widths and 6.5'' long arm. and running 37's. that's probably as low as it can get

I'm running 37x12.50 MT/R Kevlars with about 6" of lift. I don't have a lot of up-travel, but the whole package is very stable in side hill situations which is far more important, IMHO. I'm running sligtly wider than stock axles and lots of bump-stop.

 

I think that's everyones dream... atleast its mine
