My steering is starting to feel "loose" and wanders a lot at 35 and up.Front end is tight as far a shake down in the air, you can see a smige of movement when the wheels are the ground and you turn the wheel (which I would assume is acceptable). I don't want to replace it with a stock setup as this is my Daily and I know with the 35's it needs to be upgrade and want it done right. What I have taken from the forums sites I ve browsed :

JCR 1 Ton - Read that its a good set up. Requires buying a piece to ream out the holes on the knuckles. Also has a dead spot?

Currie- Lot of Good reviews, but will not work with lift taller than 5"?

Serious 1 ton- Vendor on here, no modification needed as far as drilling. Seems to be popular?

Like I said I use this as my daily with a couple trips a year to an off road park/road trips for camping. Was curious what some would recommend with experience on these, also would like to keep my business with a vendor on here .

Mods: -5.5" RE Long Arm lift with 2" spacers, and 2" shackle drop in the rear. Has steering box brace as well.

 

At your lift height look into crossover steering set ups.

JCR's design, inverted T, will more than likely have a dead spot.

Currie's is supposed to work with more than 4.5" lift because the drag link is angled for more lift/ more droop.

Serious' should require drilling because you are using larger TRE's. Along with JCR's you can use inserts after drilling or ream the knuckles out.

The dead spot can supposedly be minimizing by clocking the TRE'a away from each other but I'm not a big fan of inverted T.

 

Any suggestions on a crossover kit?

 

Crossover, preferably high steer imo.

 

WJ conversion, get a brake upgrade while youre at it.

 

yes , upgrade the brakes. stock xj brakes are not designed to stop tires that big, hope you never have to do a panic stop, cause it wont happen.

 

Is there any cross over kit not 800 plus? Lol

I was leaning towards the JCR originally, so the 700 plus along with the welding is quite a jump.

 

There is the Teraflex kit.

Like $600 ish but you don't get a braking upgrade.

 

loved mine. I just pulled it off a part out rig. knuckle and links for $300 then a panhard kit from ruffstuff for like $70. amazing difference in steering but if you're going to end up paying the full price of $600+ the OP should really be doing the WJ upgrade. stock brakes suck

 

Yeah that's the thing with the brakes.

Did you use the offset axle mount?

How long was your track bar? Didn't seem to bother you too much did it?

wasnt tall enough to match the drag link angle (couldve been fixed by putting drag link under the knuckle)
typical too short track bar problems. never noticed it on road. at full droop I did have trouble turning left but that could also be attributed to me bending almost everything in the front end

worked fine but probably could've been better if I had taken my time with it

Not a big fan of FST for various business reasons. Wouldn't feel comfortable or smart giving him my money again.
