87 wagoneer. being new to the forum i thought i would ask. I am getting ready to buy a new set of tires. I have 31 10.50 15" with 3"lift. I can get a set of 33" new mud grip tires for the same Price as the 31" tires. I have been told if i move the stock fender flares up I can stuff them under my rig. Does anyone have pics of finished look and directions of the cutting process. Would like to see how it looks before i start cutting my neer perfect fenders.

Well, i have decided not to cut my fenders. And ordered 31" tires. If i decide i want or need bigger tires i will add more lift at a later date. But the tires i ordered have 30 32nds tread depth. they look like the old style Gateway buck shot. i should have them next week then i will mount them here at home and if need be i might have them balanced. will post pics of the jeep after tires are installed.

With 31's you may have to trim slightly anyways. It all depends. Lift does not really matter too much. Your fender wells technically only fit 30" tires and smaller.

31s will fit with very minimal trimming on stock wheels. If you have after markets with less back spacing you'll want to add bump stops as they will not tuck into the fender well.

I dont think i will have much trouble. Old owner was running 31 BFG's and i have been all over this rig and dont see any spots where it looked like tires hit anything under fenders. When we brought it home i took it through the ditch at home at a angle to see how it flexed. I can flex it to the point of driver front off ground and no rub on pass front. But that is also with bald 31"s. I will try same thing with new tires when i get them. Thanks

FWIW, I have a 3" lift with 33x12.5's on 15x8s with I think 4" BS and I do not rub except for when stuffed HARD. I did trim my fenders even with the factory flares and did the cut n fold on the rears. my rubbing is up front, rear clears fine...
I have been meaning to pull the front wheels off and hammer the pinch seam in the wheel wells flat but with the wheeling that we do, which is mostly just dirt trails and mud, it rarely hits so it keeps slipping my mind

I pulled a fender off the parts jeep. Just to see what was under there. I was looking at the Pinch seem. And was wondering if it could be cut, trimed and welded. It looks like if a person could get rid of the bottom section of that it would handle larger tires with out cutting the tread face all up. And do we really need that rubber fender well.

Some tire Makers do make true 31s,33s and so on, my actual tire size is N78-15lt 6ply bias ply tires. hight was said to be 31" tread section 9.2". My old buckshots were pr78-15lt. And had a hieght of 33 1/2 " My QR78_15lt tires were advertizes as 36 inch tires But when setting next to other rigs with 36 12.50 tires you could see my qr78 were a good inch taller. I should have them next wednesday. As soon as they get here i will start mounting them the old way. with a hammer and 2 flat head screw drivers.

I have 3 inches of lift and 31's and I kept the stock flares. If I popped off the flares I could probably stuff 33's. 31's and 3 inch has been a good setup though thus far.
