Just last week I bought a set of Hercules Trail Digger M/T (33x12.5/15) off Amazon. $192 per tire with free shipping. $768 total. The great reviews on the forums, low price, and free shipping is was too hard to pass up.

Quote: If it was me, I'd swap out your LP (low pinion) Dana 30 for a HP (high pinion) axle. Dana 30's have a carrier break, so you'll need a carrier for 3.73 up. Next figure out what your rear axle is, hopefully it's a 8.25. If it is a 8.25, there isn't a carrier break. Then, decided how deep you want to go as far as gearing. Buy your gears and install kits. Find someone local who is reputable to set your gears up for you (I'm assuming you've never done gears before). Simple!
im going to message you

Quote: He means run a deeper gear set. You either have 3.07, 3.55, or 4.10 gears from the factory. Most likely you have 3.55. 33's and stock gearing is doable, but it'll be a bit of a dog on the road. Not necessary, but definitely worth it.
im running 33s on stock gearing and its super sluggish on the high ways and hills. ill be regearing to 4.56s soon hopefully

and x2 on the summit wheels. im running theyre 15x8 d-windows with 3.75 back space. no rubbing!

I run 31" ATs on mine with 4" lift. I think it looks fine. I don't wheel mine enough to warrant the need for a re-gear or drop in mpg.

I have a 3.5" RE lift and 31" goodyear duratracs that I just put on today. So far I love them and they sit nicely under 3.5 inches, and if your not looking to regear then it's a good size. They'd definitely fit on stock rims too, but you might rub a little on the control arms at full lock and it won't have that "wide stance" look as much. 33's would also look nice and if your looking for a good quality rim that doesn't break the budget, check out Cragar Soft 8's. I believe Summit has them for the best price at only $58 a piece

Quote: 31x10.50s aren't going to like your stock wheels anyways. Too much backspacing. Might as well buy new wheels and get the tires you want.
i have 31s on stock wheels.

no issues

Yea, to me losing turning radius is an issue. I love how tight my XJ can turn. Lol

I understand the whole law enforcement thing though. You could always get some flares

ya, i drive truck so i guess xj still feels good enough turning radius wise...wife has never mentioned though, but for sure YMMV.

havent seen any flares that were understated enough...bushwacker style with the fastener indents look too fakey, like fake beadlocks

same goes for the wheels, the stock xj grizzly/eccos in dark grey are beautiful...and cheap at the wrecker

Get 33s.
My first jeep got 31s, 2nd jeep got 33s, last jeep got 35s.

Id never run 31s again, they just look too damn small.

I ran 35s on my 4.5" lift and wouldnt have it any other way.
