31" tires? Bumpstops?
Ok so I am fighting in my head over getting 30's or 31's. I love the fender flares but heard that if I extended my bumpstops a bit I could go with a 31 without cutting? So my question is is it true? I know it may very xj by xj but what do you guys think. I don't really want to cut my fenders... any help would be appreciated. BTW if the bumpstop extensions would work how much would you suggest. I don't rock crawl, only mud and trails.

You don't need to trim any metal with 30 or 31" tires. Possibly the platic lip under the bumper only. You might want to add a hockey puck or 2 inside the springs to prevent the shocks from bottoming out. You will need to adjust the steering stops, so that the tire doesn't rub the lower control arm

No hockey picks on the rear. Well, I guess you could, but it would be a lot more work, and just dumb. If you can weld, you can burn a piece on to the u bolt plate though.

ok so just the front. would there be an issue if I left the back alone? I am not a welder. Removing the lip from under the front bumper is doable. What about the liner(?) inside the fender?

I'm not sure where these people get their info but I'm sitting at 3" front and about 4.25" rear with about 1" of fender trimming and I still rub quite a bit when I wheel. I haven't moved my bumpstops and don't plan to. I plan to trim more anyway.

You MIGHT be able to get away with leaving the rear alone. However you can buy extended bumpstops that will bolt right up as well.

Will the steering stops need to be adjusted in this case? If so, what does the steering stop look like and where is it located? And how do you adjust it?
I am getting the jeep aligned after tire install so is this something the tire place could adjust for me?

I will claim ignorant on this one as well. I am just finishing putting on a 2" budget boost and will be installing 30" tires as well after the lift.
