Default 3" shocks for 4.5" lift question

I have a quick question, Im lifting my XJ from 3" and adding another 1" or 1.5" and was wondering if I could keep my shocks for the time being or if they NEED to be replaced. They are aftermarket. Has anyone done this before?

I did this. If works fine. You will have no additional drop but everything el;se will be the same. You also don't have to worry about too short of brake lines.

just don't do any major flexing, they may act as your limit straps and will hurt them after a while.

What do you mean by "no major flexing?"

Depending on your LCA's you may have little to no down travel with the extra lift. If so, then you should be fine.
