This is something anyone who is thinking long arms should consider. I just changed my transmission mount on mine & the one piece X member is a pain to remove & even worse to install.

Full Traction kind of does because the long arm brackets mount onto the frame rails and tie into the stock crossmember, so the crossmember can still be removed separately. I'm trying to mount up a stronger Rusty's crossmember instead of of the stock one, but it is missing some holes that the stock one has that the Full Traction brackets tie into. I'm still in the process of fabbing up a solution to that.

You could always build your own. Relatively simple design

Did you look through the list of long arm companies found in the Thread (Cherokee XJ lift companies) in this Forum? Check out Rusty's Jeep Speed Long Arms; they mount directly to the frame and floor.

I second that. If I had to do it over again. I'd get/build a weld on cross member with removable center section. (I guess that's 3 piece but I'd rather burn it than bolt it lol)

Thanks for all the input, im currently running the RC kit and while I don't have the cash for new long arms I do want to upgrade my crossmember for easier access to my tcase. IRO and clayton are only 2 companies iv found, I will be installing frame stiffeners at some point this summer so id prefer a cross member I can weld on with a removable center section then have my arms mount to the body.

Clayton is worth every penny. Very well put together.

I built a tranny and t case skid onto mine with 10' of tube and ~4 feet of 1/4" plate, so the removable section is now pretty heavy and awkward. I beveled the edges of the removeable section so once it is started i can use the jack to put it in its final place.

Do you have a Long Arm kit on yours, or does anyone else that is running this Clayton 3 pc. cross member? If you had it to do over would you still install the skids on it or not, weight issue and fitment?

Don't want to hijack the thread but now starting to buy parts for my Long Arm upgrade.

Thanks

Yes. I have the Clayton Offroad Radius Arm kit. I love it.

Here is my Jeep with it and my skids i built onto it. Dont mind the mud and fluid leak. I just got back from wheeling.

Thanks for the reply and a photo speaks volumes, it shows that it sure does work and has held up to some heavy use.

The 2x2 arms are VERY scratched and abused. There are gashes from the bushings to the johnny joints.
