i measured from center of bolt head in the mount bracket to the center of bolt head in the leaf spring and got 3 inches, unless im wrong isnt that a 3 inch shackle? these were on the jeep when i bought it
How is it a stock shackle? for 1) I thought stock didn't even use shackles and 2) its sitting 2 inches above stock ride height and the springs look saggy, measured almost 19.5 inches

1) It does indeed use shackles. Any aftermarket part listed as a 3" shackle, would be 3 inches longer than stock. 2) 19.5 inches from where to where? If it's sitting above stock ride height, check to make sure it doesn't have some sort of lift block between the spring and spring perch.Originally Posted by zacmac1003

19.5 from center of wheel to bottom of flare, was not aware of haveing a stock shackle, makes sense now that I think about it, learn something new everyday I guess, but was told it had a 2 inch bb when I bought it

every leaf spring setup needs a shackle (or sliders or some other form to allow the spring to extend and compress) to work.

actually, a shackle listed as a 1.5" lift shackle would be 3" longer than stock.Originally Posted by Hamster

FYI. Even if it was a lift shackle , which is not, if the shackle is 3in taller then stock then it would mean its a 1.5in shackle. You divide it by half, as you are only lifting the tail end of the leafsprings.

This would have been nice to know. I asked a question about lift shackle lengths in the "All tire and lift questions go here" thread but, got no answer.Originally Posted by helmut

My question was.......why every single 3" lift I looked at, came with a 1.5 to 2 inch shackle. I thought such a kit would cause the rear to sit lower than the front so, I didn't get it.
How exactly does raising one end of the spring 1.5 inches, provide a 3" overall lift? I'm so confused......
