Default 2001 dana 30 going under an 89XJ

Making the swap, putting a 2001 dana 30 under the front end of my 89XJ. The 2001 has the cv joint axle shafts, but I hope to be able to swap in my U-Joint axles off of my original setup.

Is there anything I should watch for or is this a simple swap? According to the guy I got the axle from most of the axles on the XJ dana 30's swap with no issues.

Thanks

LittleJohn

I wouldn't do if I were you. The 2001 jeeps Cherokees used a weaker low pinion Dana 30 instead of the high pinion Dana 30 that was used on the pre 2000 XJs.

It was either that or use one of those split axles...and it will be used more for daily driving than it will be for going to Moab and twisting the frame.

I am assuming the axles are a simple swap?

I appreciate the heads up for sure! Thanks

If I ever make it strictly for wheelin I will go with the older heavier duty dana 30 with different gears and lockers...yadda yadda....but for the next couple years it will be getting me back and forth to work with just some light duty wheelin on the weekends when I am out chasing coyotes.

not sure about the swap though. Driveshaft lengths may be different but I'm not sure. Wait for someone else to chime in.
