I built a rack for mine with a spare tire mount... It's a pain to deal with when I want to throw surfboards or anything large on the roof but not having to deal with a swingout carrier every time I want to open the hatch outweighs that and the other cons of having it on the roof IMO

I'm in the process of selling my expedition rack, which is a South African made rack used for overlanding and to carry a rooftop tent. I'm keeping the rooftop tent and the fold-out awning for my next rig. The upside to the rack is that it has continuous rails that run the full length of the gutters, so it spreads the weight down the entire side of the vehicle and avoids pressure points, which was essential for overlanding where a bunch of stuff including fuel and water is carried on the roof. It also is made with aluminum planks running full length so it's possible to walk around on top of the roof of the vehicle on your rack. This was nice in the mornings, stepping out of the rooftop tent. This is a rack designed and sized specifically for the Cherokee Sport, which is why it makes no sense for me to keep. I'll have to fabricate a new rack for my next vehicle. The downside is that this is more rack than most people want or need for a lightweight solution if they are going crawling. The green square in the front is the tent and the back bar unbolts, if you're carrying longer items and you don't want it in the way. Camping up there was always a pleasure.

I'd like a rear tire mount with extra mounting points for jerry cans and jack, but the parking space in my garage is already tight. If that's not a problem for you, then go for it.
