I got my jeep last august and got most of the little things fixed up. Now I'm lookin to put a 2 inch lift on it, I'm willing to spend up to $300 but I would like it to be from a business, not a private owner. I was wondering what I would need. I need a complete list of everything lift related. All answers are appreciated. Links please!

Some people do put in 3 inch lifts with no tcase drop, but I wouldn't recommend it. If I were you I would just get the 2 inch. Unless you plan on doing some serious off roading

Decided on these

I have a 99 xj sport, which axel do I have? I think I have the Chrysler one, and what's the advantage to gas shocks over normal shocks?

Does anyone know WHY you'd want or need to drop the Tcase?
Driveline vibes.
No one can tell you if your truck will need it, and most people do get away with 3" of lift and no tcase drop. Its all about the rear DS angle.
I'm on 3" of lift and my Tcase is in its factory location.
And to be perfectly honest, doing a Tcase drop is the WRONG way of solving the issue.
The RIGHT way to do it would be to get a longer driveshaft and a SYE.

x2 on the above statement or wedges to help correct the angle atleast! and if you get a 2" lift i'd get Rusty's and buy shocks seperate and when you buy it get spacers and a add a leaf(AAL) because if will help beef up the stock factory weak leafs..also you may already know this but, you can't go over a 30" tire with a 2" lift unless you trim the fenders.

To bring up a dead thread from a noob question (I joined the forum a little more than a month before the OP) I have installed a 3" lift, and it did damage my tcase, it now grinds. I also have vibes around 57mph.
I have bought a new transfer case with an SYE installed and have acquired an XJ stock front driveshaft.
I'm thinking that when I lifted it my driveshaft pull the back of the tcase down and caused the main bearing to crap out and grind. A double cardigan driveshaft and an sye will fix the issue and my vibes.
Just thought I'd follow up on my total noob question with an update.
Note: as Gee Oh Dee said, everyone's XJ is different and may not need it, but when lifting, plan for that expense as it may happen.
