2 inch lift trouble
Members of cherokee forum, please assemble.
I know that many threads have been written on this topic and I have searched all of them that I could find but I just can't seem to get the information I'm looking for. Let me describe my situation, I put in the OME 2 inch rear leaf springs (heavy duty; CS035RA) along with matching shocks. The front is untouched as of yet ($$) so the back, last time I measured, was about 2 inches higher than the front...so I guess I got about 2.5 inches of lift total for the rear so far. Anyways I noticed when I got everything bolted in (Yes, I had to cut through my floor to get to the upper shock mount bolts) that I had a grinding sound at the weirdest times. It is not constant and seems to occur randomly. When I am at the very very beginning of the travel of the gas pedal, it happens for a split second; when going on it and letting off. Other than that this mysterious grinding seems to happen whenever and wherever it wants. So here is my question, is the fact that the rear is raised and not the front a potential source of the problem(drive shaft angle?) I know that 2 inches can be right on the edge of having drivetrain problems and having to tcase drop or add sye but I guess I'm just hoping that it could be something easier and less expensive to take care of and I'm pretty sure it's not just the alignment because I'm not getting any vibrations, just grinding nosie.
Now let me throw another layer on top of that, I didn't notice it when I had the springs on but not the shocks. I had to drive it for a day or two like that. Obviously once I got the shocks on me and a buddy took it out for a little too fun but nothing too serious that I would think I broke something else. Anyways, any opinions are greatly appreciated as I know a lot of people on here are a lot more experience than me. (also, np231 tcase and chrysler 8.25 if it helps)

It's definitely not the front. To me it sounds like it is coming from the back but I still have holes in my floor from the upper shock mounts so I might just be hearing it best from back there.

Did you adjust your parking brake cables out a bit when you put your rear lift on? It could be that your rear brakes are dragging a bit. By lifting your rear you in effect increased the distance between your brake handle and the rear brakes. Since you made holes where your upper shock mounts are that would amplify the amount of noise coming from the rear axle that you would hear inside the Jeep.
