So im intersted in ditching my ac pump and getting a second alt i know i only need one if i just get a high out put but hate that on my 90 the alt is by my pan. can easily just swap brackets and run from there but a second closed system for back up lighting, jump starts, having a solid charged bat to drop in otehr items (tractor, my dodge or even my deer feeder. yes i use a full size 12 volt bat on my deer feeder)

1 so my plans are to yank the ac and drop a new alt in there
2 run my cabels to a closed system in the back of my jeep
3 run a second fuse box under the hood
4 run lights, air compressor, winch and so forth of the closed system
5 tie in on a breaker switch to connect batteries for jump starts.

so I think I got it figured out but would love some imput to possibly improve my idea.

next possiblilty just redo the hole front with all brackeds and locations to remove my alt off the bottom so i dont drowned my alt. get electric fans for cooling.

i did exactly what you posted and love it.

i used a gm alt from '95 saturn (i was shopping by mount). did a little grinding to the ac mount. spaced the pully out a bit after swaping it for a 6 grove vs the saturns 5. alt. pigtail from a '95 chevy p/u, you have to relay power from the stock system to through a dummy lite and to the new alt.

if you have questions ... akamcbird@yahoo.com subject- alt.

i mite eve be persuaded to take some pics
