I bought a really clean 86 Cherokee stick with a 2.8L. I also bought a 1995 3.4 Camaro engine w/Automatic to replace the 2.8L.
Originally, I wanted to just do the swap and put all the 2.8 L parts on the 3.4, but the more I have been thinking about it, the more I want to keep all the 3.4 with the 10 years of advancements and EFI. I have the engine harness and ECM for the 3.4L, but nothing else.
Can anyone provide any guidance in how to: 1) Get the ECU programmed for a manual transmission, 2) Help me with wiring from the Jeep to the engine - so it run?. Both engines are GM.
I've had a bunch of classic vehicles in the past, and thought this would be a good project, but I think I bit off more than I can chew.
I am still struggling to get the original 2.8 engine out of the Jeep, but that is a different thread....
I attached a picture I found on line of almost exactly what the replacement 3.4 looks like.
That's a good swap. 3.4 and 3.8 are good engines.
After a two year hunt for the right one I scored 3.4 V6 but couldn't find a replacement 85 Cherokee Pioneer to swap it into.
