Default 2.5l 4 cyl turbo

I want to turbo my 88 XJ. Would the turbo from a 2.5l work on a 4.0? If so what all would I need to put it on my XJ?

if it was affordable and easy everyone would do it,theres way more to it than just throwing on a turbo and no the electric ones dont work.
if you paid someone to install and than do the required tuning mods it you would probably be in the 5 to 6 thousand dollar neighborhood but do youre homework, and do some googleing hopefully im wrong

dont see one for the 88 but heres the kit for the 91 and up

dont forget to add about 1500 or so for labor

and if you have high mileage than might want to consider a new motor also sure would suck to spend5 grand on a motor and blow it up the first time you punch it

The 2.5 is pretty much the same engine as the 80's turbo dodge 2.5 so im sure with a little research and fab you could make one heck of a frankenstine of a engine

Are you saying the Jeep 2.5 is pretty much the same as a Dodge 2.5?

Its the same head just na yea the block is different bore and stroke but it could be done on the 4 banger along with the 4.0 if its a renix. Those computers are straight stupid. If it has a return fuel line you put a rising rate fmu on with an adjustable fpr bigger injectors a wide band and you run 10lbs and be happy you do a good tune up on the motor and a new fuel pump. You cant run to much boost due to timing being able to adjust the timing is the biggest issue with boosting these motors but it can be done
