1999 xj questions
so i've been on the look out for another xj since mine was totaled in febuary when I was rear ended. bought it back and it is now offroad only.
found a 1999 cherokee that has a 6" long arm kit on it. owner doesnt know what brand, brand new 33 swampers and a hanson winch bumper and winch with kc lights. oh and its a 5speed I know i'm entering "bought not built" territory but I got a steal on it since the seller was tight on cash.
I plan to have the jeep as my primary driver and i'll have my truck as backup if my fiance needs to borrow the jeep. so the lift needs to come off, but im not sure how much...
My friend has a 2 inche ome lift on his jeep and it rides really nice but still is pretty capable on the trails. I'm thinking a 2-3inch ome lift and 31s a/t since it already has bushwacker flairs too. Should I just get a whole new lift or can I just replace the coils, leaf springs and shocks and keep the long arms? will I end up with no uptravel or should it clear?

also the instrument cluster was dead when i test drove it...the seller said it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I seem to remember there being an issue with the clusters but does this sound like an issue with the cluster or with a wiring issue somewhere?
headed to the dmv with it tommorrow. i'm excited.

The cluster is a hit or miss really, I know when mine messed up it was just the cluster not any electrical problem but I'd check the connection behind the cluster and if the fuse is in good

Ordered the cluster harness from the dealer today. Also removed the bushwackers and found whoever mounted them cut through the pinch weld. :****:
I think I'm decided on going to a 2.5ome lift and back to short arms. Need to get the fenders sealed up and cleaned up the. Then Ill get going on removing the lift.
