1996 XJ with 6" lift - need lift for Transfwer case linkage.
Does anyone know of a way to extend the linkage to the transfer case?
There are 1 inch lowering blocks on the transfer case but the linkage no longer is hooked up.
The pin the goes into the transfer case sits, well 1 inch lower.
Is there a lift kit for the linkage???

First off with a 6" lift you should NOT have any lowering blocks on the transfer case! You should have it at stock height and running an SYE along with degree shims under the rear differential. Then you must have Adj. U/LCA's to setup the front end if you don't already have these, along with all the other items required with a 6" lift.
Did you study the STICKIES about Lifts......... Easy to see that you did not or you wouldn't asking these questions.

I agree with Fred^, the only linkage brackets I know of was for the TJ Wranglers. The shift levers on TJ's mounts to the tub & transfer case. The bracket mounted only to the transfer case. I bought one way back when I thought TJ's were the cool jeeps..... I haven 't seen them lately though. You want a SYE & double Cardon DS. Prob, need some shims too.

Thank you, and no need to be rude. I thought forums were there to learn, maybe I was wrong.
We (Me and my Son) just bought the XJ. It had the lift on it.
We were told the spacer were only put in till he got the correct Drive shaft.
Which he ( the original owner) did. He also said we could take out the spacers.
That is why We have come to this forum, so we did finish the project correctly.
All your input is very much apprciated, looking forward to learning more so the son can enjoy the 4x4 JEEP life. ROCK on!

Dropping the cross member is not a incorrect way to achieve better angles. Its a alternative way of reducing /eliminating vibrations and bad angles on drive shaft parts. Its been being done longer than most members on here have been alive.

If you have a SYE and double cordon driveshaft you shouldn't need the transfer case drop kit that's pictured. If you don't want to remove the spacers under the crossmember, then you'd need the transfer case linkage drop plate. You can probably make one yourself. You can also check some of the vendors on here, such as Boostwerks who sells a complete replacement for the factory linkage.
Personally I don't like the transfer case drop because it puts extra stress on the motor mounts, screws with your linkage, and your exhaust hanger. It can also make accurate fluid level readings as the factory intended impossible. People do it because they are unaware of the side effects, its cheaper than installing a SYE and replacing the driveshaft, ...

Welcome BTXJ, don't sweat the rude, it happens, been guilty party myself, but you'll find the forum loaded with great advice. If you have some knowledge to share it will always be welcome. As humans we don't always play nice, even if we play rough, at least as Cherokee lovers we play together, and off roadin does involve some mud slinging. Welcome to the swamp!
All in all some excellent recommendations to your TCase connection dilemon.

I was going to suggest boostwerks linkage also, just order one for a 5spd as it has a drop like pictured. However might be a little much for a new to jeep father/son to install....

ya that's true. I had to take the whole console out and remove the whole transfer case shift handle from under the carpet. The instructions were very good, I think if your at all mechanically inclined you should be able to handle it . I love mine and would recommend it to anyone
